FCBStudios are celebrating our 40th year in practice and our 20th year in London. HOST 40/20 marks this milestone with a year-long series of events celebrating our projects, staff, clients and collaborators, and the impact of architecture on the way we live, work and play.
We launch HOST40/20 this December with a focus on Arts and Education, taking over the Southbank Festival Village Undercroft Space, to showcase creative collaboration and the great work emerging from the next generation of students.
We’ve invited Manchester School of Art, Chelsea School of Art (UAL), Plymouth College of Art, Plymouth School of Creative Arts, Bedales School and Long Live Southbank to create a collective artwork in the Undercroft Space, responding to either the space itself or to the building that we designed for them. On Tuesday 4th December we’ll be hosting Space for Creativity, an evening of talks and discussion with invited speakers from the worlds of creative arts and education.
We are delighted to be launching HOST40/20 at Southbank Centre and to have been part of the story of the recent transformation of one of the great imaginative and democratic buildings of the last century. Our new publication Respecting Brutalism: The Hayward Gallery and Queen Elizabeth Hall at 50 is our tribute to Southbank Centre and celebrates its contextual history, cultural life and secret idiosyncrasies. The book will be available in the Hayward Bookshop from 6th December – in time for Christmas!
The Undercroft will be open to invited visitors to see and discuss the installation from 3rd – 6th December. Contact us to book your appointment.
