Manchester School of Art has brought industrial yarn bombing to the Southbank.
Dubbed ‘Architectural Knitting’, an adaptable knitting loom has been build to encircle the iconic Southbank columns, and industrial foam backer rod used as the yarn.

Led by Dr Annie Shaw, the team is made up of Matt Ault, Fraser Streatfield, Jack Thomas, Tahreeme Amjed, Juan Sebastian and Alvarez Ruilova.
Once complete, a pattern, originally devised by Lewis F Day in the 1890s and used on a decorative column within the Manchester School of Art building will be projected on the knitted columns.
